I had the pleasure of working with a wonderful group from Texas. Ginger who led the team, has been driving groups to New Orleans for years. In fact she brought the first team I ever worked with five years ago, I still remember the week quite well :) Ginger is someone I really admire and look forward to seeing. One encouraging thing she said to me was that out of all the places she takes the youth, they like New Orleans the most :)
The team gutted a house in the New Orleans East. It was quite the mess. In the living room there was standing water! We used insolation to soak up the water and cleared the debris only to find drenched carpet. I ended up pulling several muscles trying to drag it out to the curb and got nice and wet in the process. I wish you were here to join me! :)
God Provided Mushrooms For Lunch :)
A girl ask me to take the toilet out of the bathroom she was gutting and when I lifted the lid, it looked like the whole toilet was completely filled with hair. So yeah, I took it out side and opened the lid and (get ready for this) it was a dead cat, bones and fur. I wonder what the story behind this was. :)
Well, for some reason, the neighbors were not the happiest with us for adding this beautiful mountain to the flat Louisiana landscape.
We have a connection, who has a connection with the city and they said they'll pick it up. Hopefully they do it quickly! They're not known for speed. Pray for the neighbors patience or else I may be going to cast this mountain into our dump trailer by hand and by faith. :o
Debriefing
The French Quarter Tour
They did other stuff like children ministry, but I was not there to take pictures :( instead, (oh the joy) I was busy sanding sheetrock mud and getting the attic ready to paint while listening to extremely loud music in order to try to cover the sound of the sanding.
